Inground outdoor fire pits - Building an inground outdoor fire pit yourself doesn't need to cost a lot of money or take a lot of time; of course it's up to you how creative and fancy the inground pit will be. Options for an inground pit include ordering a set of plans with design and material list. If you are interested, take a look at swingplans.com; they sell this particular fireplace plan on their website.

Another option is to head outside with a shovel and start digging the ground where you want to locate the fire pit. Begin with the obvious hole dig and when you're finished line the pit with a wall of stones or brick. Make sure to extend the wall above ground: the purpose of creating the wall is to shield the fire from both wind and soil.

You can use this sunken firepit to grill outdoors or for a basic campfire. Be sure to keep safety in mind as an inground hearth is a permanent outdoor accessory. After you build it up you may want to keep it covered when not in use. You can find inexpensive scrap metal and have it cut to fit.
